Georgia court permits election board review of Fulton County 2020 votes

 December 25, 2025

A Georgia judge just opened the door for a deep dive into Fulton County’s 2020 presidential election records, reigniting a debate many thought was long buried.

Just The News reported that a Superior Court ruling has greenlit the state election board’s access to ballots and documents from Fulton County’s handling of that contentious election, though the board must foot a hefty bill for the privilege.

Last year, the Republican-led Georgia Election Board decided to revisit how Fulton County managed the 2020 vote, stirring up questions about transparency and oversight.

Fast forward to this week, when Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney made a pivotal ruling, granting the board access to those critical election materials.

But here’s the catch—the state board, not the local taxpayers, will have to shell out for the process.

The estimated cost to produce these records? A staggering $400,000, a price tag that raises eyebrows about just how far this investigation intends to go.

Fulton County Taxpayers Spared the Bill

Now, Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitts has been quick to reassure the public about the financial burden, or rather, the lack thereof for locals.

“Fulton County taxpayers will not be on the hook for the $400,000 that the production of the documents are estimated to cost,” Pitts told FOX5.

While that’s a relief for county residents, one can’t help but wonder if this hefty sum signals overreach by a board eager to poke holes in a process already scrutinized to death.

Pitts also doubled down on defending the county’s election integrity, claiming the process was above board.

“The elections were open and transparent,” Pitts insisted to FOX5, adding that “all votes were counted.”

Yet, with all due respect to Pitts, if everything was so crystal clear, why does the state board feel compelled to dig through old ballots at a cost of nearly half a million dollars? Something doesn’t quite add up.

Balancing Accountability with Fiscal Sense

From a conservative vantage point, it’s hard not to appreciate the push for accountability in a system where trust has been eroded by endless progressive promises of perfection.

Still, there’s a fine line between due diligence and a fishing expedition, and $400,000 is a steep price for what might amount to political theater.

Ultimately, while the pursuit of truth in our elections is paramount, let’s hope this investigation yields answers worth the cost—because taxpayers, even if not directly footing this bill, deserve value for every public dollar spent.
