FBI raids Fulton County election office over in election fraud investigation

 January 29, 2026

Federal agents descended on the Fulton County election office in Georgia with a search warrant in hand, stirring echoes of the contentious 2020 presidential election.

The New York Post reported that on Wednesday, FBI agents executed a raid at the election office in Fulton County, which encompasses most of Atlanta and is Georgia’s most populous area, as confirmed by the Justice Department to The Post, though specifics about the investigation’s focus remain undisclosed.

The issue has reignited debate over the 2020 election, particularly in Fulton County, where former President Donald Trump repeatedly claimed fraud after losing Georgia’s 16 Electoral College votes to Joe Biden by fewer than 12,000 votes.

Trump’s allegations of widespread irregularities in Fulton County have long been a lightning rod, with claims ranging from unsupervised ballot scanning to votes cast by ineligible individuals.

His assertions included over 10,300 ballots allegedly cast by deceased residents and more than 4,500 by people not on voter rolls, though these claims were firmly dismissed by Georgia’s courts and Republican officials like Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

Such disputes aren’t just academic—they fueled Trump’s push to challenge Georgia’s results, a move that contributed to his second impeachment in January 2021.

Trump’s Claims and Official Rebuttals

During his January 6, 2021, speech before the Capitol riot, Trump painted a vivid picture of deceit, stating, “In Fulton County, Republican poll watchers were ejected, in some cases, physically from the room under the false pretense of a pipe burst.”

He went on to claim, “Then election officials pull boxes — Democrats — and suitcases of ballots out from under a table… totally fraudulent, and illegally scanned them for nearly two hours.” This narrative of a “mysterious vote dump” for Biden was roundly rejected by state officials as baseless.

Raffensperger, in particular, stood firm against the tide, declaring, “We’ve never found systemic fraud, not enough to overturn the election.”

The pipe burst incident Trump highlighted—a brief pause in absentee ballot counting on Election Day—was investigated and found to be a non-issue by Georgia authorities, yet it remains a sticking point for many who question the process.

Adding to the saga, two Fulton County election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, faced intense scrutiny after being accused of fraud, ultimately winning a $148 million defamation judgment against Rudy Giuliani.

While those personal battles rage, the broader legal fights, including charges filed by District Attorney Fani Willis against Trump and 18 others in 2023, have since been dropped, leaving many questions unanswered.

What Does This Raid Mean Now?

Today’s FBI raid, with its undisclosed purpose, feels like a ghost from elections past, haunting a county that’s been through the wringer over voting integrity.

For those wary of overreaching federal power or skeptical of election narratives, this search could either vindicate long-held suspicions or prove another dead end in a saga that’s already exhausted public patience.
