Barron Trump swaps polished image for casual campus style after NYU move

 October 2, 2026

Barron Trump has traded his clean-cut public image for a relaxed campus look after transferring to New York University’s Washington, D.C. campus, new photos show.

The 20-year-old son of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump was recently photographed walking outside in a white long-sleeved Ralph Lauren polo, beige chinos, a brown belt, and a black backpack. His hair appeared tousled, with strands falling over his forehead and little sign of styling product.

Globe reported the casual appearance came amid his move from NYU’s Greenwich Village campus to the university’s campus in Washington, D.C., where he is studying finance at the Stern School of Business.

He began those studies in 2024. The new photos surfaced just days after the outlet said he is dating a girl he met at college. His last widely noted public appearance came in July at the FIFA World Cup Final in New Jersey.

Campus life replaces the formal spotlight

The shift is simple and ordinary on its face. A college student in a polo and backpack is not a scandal. It is a young man in school clothes.

Barron has long kept a lower public profile than many children of presidents. The photographs place him in that same lane: off the stage, outdoors, and dressed for class rather than a formal event.

Hello! obtained the images and noted his finance studies at Stern. Globe tied the relaxed look to the D.C. transfer and to the recent dating report. No direct comment from Barron on his clothes, hair, or schedule appears in that coverage.

Exact photo dates, the street where he was walking, and the formal start date of the D.C. campus move were not detailed. What is clear is the sequence the outlets laid out: Greenwich Village in 2024, a July public sighting in New Jersey, a transfer to Washington, and a more casual look in recent photos.

Melania’s earlier words still fit the picture

First Lady Melania Trump, 56, addressed her son’s character in her 2024 self-titled memoir. The passage, carried again in the recent coverage, stressed steadiness under pressure.

In that book, Melania Trump wrote:

"Barron possesses a rare combination of intelligence, charm, and diligence. He had remained resolute in his character and values even through the whirlwind of changes and challenges that accompanied his father's election and presidency."

Those lines do not explain a haircut or a polo shirt. They do match the broader pattern the photos suggest: a young man trying to keep his own routine while his parents occupy the White House.

Washington thrives on spectacle. A 20-year-old in chinos and a backpack is a useful reminder that not every Trump family moment is a political production. Sometimes it is just college.
