Soap star Robert Kelker-Kelly, Days of Our Lives’ Bo Brady, dies at 62

 October 6, 2026

Robert Kelker-Kelly, the soap actor who played Bo Brady on “Days of Our Lives,” has died at 62 after responders failed to revive him from a medical emergency.

Fox News Digital reported that the Missouri medical examiner’s office said Kelker-Kelly died Oct. 3. Local police were sent to the scene about 8:16 p.m. after a report that he was unconscious and not breathing.

Officers and the St. Charles County Ambulance District tried to save him. The efforts failed. Police told the outlet nothing at the scene looked suspicious, and the circumstances lined up with a medical event after he had complained of chest pain. The official cause of death was not disclosed. His body was later released to a local funeral home.

For daytime fans, the name still tracks to one role above the rest. Kelker-Kelly stepped into Bo Brady on “Days of Our Lives” in 1992, taking over from original portrayer Peter Reckell, and stayed with the show through 1995.

Police describe a medical emergency, not a crime scene

Authorities kept the public account short and plain. A police statement to Fox News Digital laid out the response without drama or speculation.

Police said:

"Our officers arrived on scene along with the St. Charles County Ambulance District, and life-saving measures were administered but were unsuccessful,"

They added a clear line on the scene itself:

"There was nothing suspicious noted at the scene,"

And they tied the collapse to what witnesses had already reported:

"Mr. Kelly had reportedly complained of chest pain shortly before becoming unresponsive, and the circumstances appeared consistent with a medical event."

No arrest. No foul-play claim. No cause released. Just a sudden medical crisis and a life that ended at 62.

From Wichita to the soap spotlight

Kelker-Kelly was born April 18, 1964, in Wichita, Kansas. He built his career the old daytime way, long arcs, live-to-tape pressure, and characters audiences let into their living rooms for years.

In 1987 he originated Sam Fowler on “Another World.” He later played Bobby Reno and Dr. Shane Roberts on the same series. That early run set up the higher-profile Brady chapter that followed.

The Bo Brady years brought awards heat. In 1994 he won a Soap Opera Digest Award for outstanding lead actor. He attended the 10th Annual Soap Opera Digest Awards on Feb. 4, 1994, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. In 1995 he shared the hottest soap couple honor with Lisa Rinna.

He was not only a “Days” name. From 2001 to 2003 he played Stavros Cassadine on “General Hospital,” then returned to the role in 2013 and 2014. Away from the set, he also worked as a professional pilot, another skilled trade that demands discipline and steady nerves.

Marriages and a working actor’s paper trail

His personal life, as carried in the public record tied to the death report, included two marriages. He was married to Linda Rattner from 1988 to 1992. He later married actress Miriam Parrish in 1997; that marriage lasted until 2013.

Those dates sit beside a résumé that spanned the major NBC daytime brands of his era. “Another World.” “Days of Our Lives.” “General Hospital.” Different shows, same craft: show up, hit the mark, carry storylines that millions followed between work and dinner.

Soap careers rarely get the same cultural monument treatment as prime-time franchises. They still shaped American household routine for decades. Kelker-Kelly was part of that machine at its peak reach, first as a young lead, then as a returning villain on another flagship serial.

As of the medical examiner’s account relayed to reporters, the formal cause of death remained undisclosed. Police pointed to chest pain and a medical event. The rest belongs to the family and to the records that have not been released.

Hard work on a daily show does not always make a man a household name forever. It does leave a clean line of credit with the audience that watched him do the job.
