Ana Navarro scolds View co-hosts over jokes about dining with Trump

 October 20, 2026

Ana Navarro blasted her fellow hosts on The View for joking about a dinner invitation from President Trump, declaring the idea not funny and refusing any contact with him.

On Tuesday, the ABC daytime panel turned to recent dinners President Trump has hosted. Stephen A. Smith, Kid Rock, and Bill Maher have sat down with him as of late, and the conversation quickly shifted to whether the hosts themselves would accept such an invite.

What started as light banter turned sharp when Ana Navarro rejected the premise outright and scolded her colleagues for treating it as a joke. Whoopi Goldberg eventually stepped in, ended the argument, and moved the show on to other topics.

TheWrap reported the exchange in detail, capturing Navarro’s refusal to “normalize” Trump and her co-hosts’ more open stance toward a conversation.

Griffin would take the meeting; Navarro will not

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who once worked on Trump’s communications team before breaking with him, said she would still entertain the invitation. She noted Trump has called her “a loser, a clown and many other things,” yet framed the value differently.

"It's not about eating with him, it's about having a conversation."

Griffin argued that policy changes can happen in the room and that the only way to fight is by showing up. Sara Haines piled on with humor, saying she is still waiting for her invite even though Trump does not know her name, and cracked a “Lady and the Tramp”-style dinner joke that drew laughter.

Haines also reminded the table that Navarro had previously taken Senator Thom Tillis to task when he visited the show, suggesting confrontation on the set is not new for her. Navarro was not amused.

"No, but, listen, stop, this is not funny!"

She made her position plain and personal.

"No way in h*** I would want to break bread or be in the same room with a man whose administration is hunting Latinos."

Navarro tied her refusal to ICE immigration enforcement across the country and claimed Trump has “lost 50 points of support with Latinos” while his administration “doubled down on their cruelty.” She asked whether anyone expected her to share a meal under those conditions.

No meal, no meeting, no normalization

Navarro left little room for dialogue. She said she will not give Trump the time of day, will vote against him, campaign against him, and urge others to hold him accountable.

"I'm not going to normalize that man, I'm not going to give him the time of day."

She added that she shows up to the fight every day and can buy her own d*** wine and her own d*** food. Goldberg shut the back-and-forth down before it stretched further as midterm elections loom closer.

The panel never established that Trump had actually invited any of them. The entire dispute rested on a hypothetical. Griffin cast a sit-down as a chance to talk policy. Navarro cast it as moral contamination.

One host treated a meal as leverage for conversation. Another treated the same meal as surrender. In a country that still has to live under the same laws and the same elections, only one of those instincts leaves the door open.
