Trump offers UFC CEO Dana White White House press secretary role as Monday meeting is set

 November 7, 2026

President Trump offered UFC CEO Dana White the White House press secretary job and urged him to take it, White is set to meet him Monday at the White House.

President Trump announced on Truth Social that he has offered the White House press secretary post to UFC CEO Dana White, calling the longtime fight promoter a “violent Fighter and Warrior” and asking him to join the administration. Just the News reported that White is expected at the White House on Monday to discuss the offer, citing TMZ.

White already signaled interest. On Saturday he posted a photo of himself standing behind the White House press briefing room podium with a short caption that left little doubt about the direction he is considering.

The president did not frame the choice as business as usual. He cast White as the kind of communicator who will push back hard, and he asked the UFC chief to bring a slate of well-known combat sports figures with him as assistants.

Trump wants fighters beside the podium

In the Truth Social announcement, Trump said he wants White to bring Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris. He noted that some of them are not from the United States and still asked for them by name.

The Washington Examiner likewise reported the president’s public offer and the request for those assistants after Trump posted the news.

Trump wrote:

"I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States. I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris,"

He followed with a clear pitch on why he wants the UFC boss in the job:

"We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!"

The message mixes personnel news with a direct appeal. Trump is not floating a trial balloon in private. He put the offer, the preferred team, and the reason on a public platform and then asked White to say yes.

White’s podium photo came first

Before the Monday meeting was reported, White posted the image from the briefing room podium. The caption was brief.

"On to the Next Chapter."

He did not spell out an acceptance in that post. He also did not rule the job out. Standing at the podium and talking about a next chapter is the kind of public signal Washington reads carefully when a president has just made an offer.

Just the News, citing TMZ, said the sit-down is planned for Monday at the White House so the two men can discuss the press secretary role. No public statement from White confirming he has accepted, declined, or set conditions appeared in the reporting tied to the announcement.

What is on the record is straightforward. The president offered the job. He named the people he wants nearby. He said the country needs that team to push back against the left. White answered with a podium photo and a line about the next chapter, then prepared for a White House meeting.

A press shop built for a fight

White House press secretaries usually come from political communications, network television, or Capitol Hill. Trump is reaching into combat sports leadership instead. Dana White has spent years as the public face of the UFC, running big events, handling controversy in real time, and speaking in blunt terms that play to a mass audience.

Trump’s own words make the theory of the hire plain. He wants a press secretary “like none other.” He wants assistants drawn from the fight world. He wants them, in his phrasing, to defend the administration against the left. That is an argument for toughness and clarity at the podium, not for another polished survivor of the old press corps.

The named assistants underline the point. Makhachev, Nurmagomedov, Gaethje, Cormier, and Nunes are established UFC figures. Trump listed them beside White and treated the group as a package he hopes to bring into the briefing operation. Whether any of them actually join remains an open question the initial reporting does not answer. The request itself is part of the story the president chose to tell.

For now the verified sequence is short and public. Trump announced the offer on Truth Social. White posted from the briefing room podium on Saturday. A Monday meeting at the White House is on the calendar, according to the TMZ account carried in the Just the News report. White’s final decision was not recorded in that coverage.

Presidents pick press secretaries to set a tone. Trump is telling the country he wants a fighter in the room, and he asked one of the biggest names in combat sports to take the mic.
