Hold onto your hats, folks—Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) just dropped a bombshell that’s got everyone from Capitol Hill to Main Street buzzing.
Breitbart reported that Fetterman has pointed to a new study showing left-wing terrorism at a 30-year high, while slamming his fellow Democrats for fanning the flames with overheated rhetoric, all in the wake of a tragic assassination at Utah Valley University.
The Pennsylvania senator took to X with a screenshot of an Axios piece titled “Study: Left-wing terrorism climbs to 30-year high,” making it clear he’s not here for the excuses.
Fetterman didn’t mince words, targeting the casual tossing around of loaded terms like “Hitler” or “fascist” by some in his party.
“Unchecked extreme rhetoric… will foment more extreme outcomes,” he warned, and frankly, it’s hard to argue when words seem to be turning into weapons.
Turns out, actions have consequences, and Fetterman’s plea to “turn the temperature down” feels like a rare moment of clarity in a polarized mess.
The data Fetterman highlighted comes from the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS), which analyzed over 750 domestic attacks and plots since 1994.
While far-right violence has historically been more frequent, CSIS notes a sharp decline in such incidents in the first half of 2025, with just one reported attack compared to at least five left-wing plots or strikes.
Since 2016, left-wing extremists have carried out 41 attacks versus 152 by right-wing groups, but the body count still tilts heavily rightward—112 deaths to 13 over the past decade.
The release of this study follows a gut-wrenching event: the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10.
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox revealed chilling details, noting bullet casings from the rifle used bore etched taunts like “Hey fascist! Catch!”
If that doesn’t send a shiver down your spine about where political discourse has landed us, I’m not sure what will.
Even after Kirk’s murder, some prominent Democrats, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom, have doubled down, slapping labels like “fascist” on Trump officials such as Stephen Miller.
Fetterman’s response is unequivocal: “Political violence is always wrong — no exceptions.” It’s a simple truth that shouldn’t need repeating, yet here we are, watching the cycle spin faster.
While I’m no fan of progressive overreach, credit where it’s due—Fetterman stepping up to call out his own side shows a backbone that’s rare in today’s tribal politics. Maybe, just maybe, this is the nudge we need to stop shouting and start talking, before more lives are lost to this madness.
