House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) just dropped a bombshell that’s got the political world buzzing.
A recently uncovered 2013 email suggests that Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ campaign team, through a consulting firm, reached out to none other than Jeffrey Epstein for a fundraising event with former President Obama, though no evidence shows Epstein ever donated.
Let’s rewind to May 7, 2013, when an email from Dynamic SRG, a New York City political consulting outfit, landed in Jeffrey Epstein’s inbox.
Sent by Lisa Rossi, a partner at the firm, and forwarded by Epstein’s then-assistant Lesley Groff, the message invited the disgraced financier to a Democratic Party dinner, according to The New York Post.
This wasn’t just any event—it featured President Obama and offered a chance to cozy up to Jeffries, described as a key figure in New York’s congressional ranks.
The email painted Jeffries as “one of the rising stars in the New York Congressional delegation,” and didn’t shy away from flattery, calling him a staunch ally of Obama.
“Hakeem is committed to electing a Democratic majority in 2014 and is encouraging his friends to participate in the DCCC/DSCC fundraising dinner with President Obama this coming Monday night,” Rossi wrote in the email to Epstein.
Well, isn’t that a bold pitch? Inviting someone with Epstein’s baggage—already convicted in 2008 for solicitation charges in Florida—to a high-profile political event raises eyebrows about the vetting process back then.
Fast forward to this week, when Comer took to the House floor with a pointed accusation against Jeffries’ camp.
“So, Hakeem Jeffries’ campaign solicited money from Jeffrey Epstein. That’s what we found in the last document batch,” Comer declared, waving the 2013 email as evidence.
While Comer’s claim packs a punch, let’s be fair—there’s no record of Epstein shelling out a dime to Jeffries or the Democratic committees tied to the event, per Federal Election Commission data.
Adding to the mystery, neither Dynamic SRG, Rossi, nor Jeffries’ team has commented on the email, despite outreach from media outlets.
Epstein’s response to the invite? That remains unknown, leaving us to wonder if he even considered mingling at a Democratic fundraiser given his notorious past.
Silence from all corners doesn’t exactly clear the air, but it does fuel speculation about how deep these connections—or attempted connections—really went.
