FBI Director Kash Patel is engaged to country singer Alexis Wilkins after the pair shared the news on X, a match that links the bureau chief to conservative country music circles.
Wilkins posted a black-and-white photo of the couple Sunday evening, flashing her hand to show the ring. Patel, 46, reposted it. She is 27.
The Associated Press reported the announcement and the couple’s recent public appearances together.
Wilkins kept the caption short and direct.
“Went and got the law involved.”
The two have been dating since before Patel took over as FBI director in 2025. Wilkins attended his swearing-in.
She released her debut album in 2023. Her work, as described on her site, “honors country tradition while adding relevance and current commentary.” She has ties to conservative groups and writes on her own website.
Wilkins sang the national anthem at a pro wrestling event in State College, Pennsylvania. Afterward she posted photos of the couple smiling while she held an oversized golden championship belt.
Patel flew there on an FBI jet. That trip drew criticism because it had no clear law-enforcement purpose, part of a broader pattern of questions about his travel that has also included Senate scrutiny of expenses and vehicle purchases.
She later performed at President Donald Trump’s Great American State Fair on the National Mall for America 250. Other artists pulled out after learning the event was not a non-partisan celebration. Wilkins stayed and sang.
Patel’s early months running the bureau have included leadership shifts, among them Andrew Bailey’s decision to step down as co-deputy director and return to Missouri.
The engagement lands while Patel continues high-profile case work. He has publicly flagged problems in major investigations, including a four-day local delay that he said may have cost critical video in the Nancy Guthrie abduction case.
Internal records have also shown him directing staff to track social media critics and push back, as detailed in FOIA releases on those directives.
For now the story is simpler: the FBI director and the country singer made it official on X, ring photo and all.
In a capital that runs on leaks and spin, a straight engagement announcement is still allowed to be good news.
