Fox News has signed former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt as an on-air contributor, bringing another seasoned Trump administration voice to its platforms beginning Nov. 1.
The conservative cable network announced the hire Monday, saying the 29-year-old will deliver commentary and analysis across Fox News Media outlets after stepping down from the West Wing late in August.
NBC News reported that Leavitt, the youngest White House press secretary in American history, left the administration after serving from the start of President Donald Trump’s second term and will begin the new role on Nov. 1.
Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott pointed directly to Leavitt’s time in the briefing room and on the campaign trail as the reason for the move.
"Karoline’s firsthand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today’s political landscape. We look forward to her providing our audience with authentic and sharp insight across all Fox News Media platforms."
Leavitt answered in kind, promising the same direct style she brought to the podium.
"Bringing my unique perspective from my experience as White House Press Secretary, along with the same energy and candor that defied my tenure, to Fox’s millions of viewers across their many platforms."
Trump framed her departure in personal terms. In an Aug. 12 Truth Social post, he said she left the West Wing to “spend more time with her beautiful young children and family.” She had given birth to her second child in May.
He also made clear she was not stepping away from the fight. Trump wrote that Leavitt “will now be one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party, as we work to defy History, and conclusively win the Midterm Elections.”
That dual track, family time paired with continued political influence, sets up her Fox role as more than a soft landing. It keeps a proven defender of the administration in front of a national audience while the midterm calendar advances.
Leavitt’s path to the podium ran through hard campaigns. She served as national press secretary for Trump’s 2024 race and belonged to his inner circle. Before that, she ran for the House in New Hampshire in the 2022 midterms and lost to Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas.
Inside the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room she built a reputation for fierce defenses of the administration and occasional confrontations with reporters. That record is exactly what Fox is buying: someone who has already stood at the lectern under pressure and can translate it for viewers.
She is not the first Trump press secretary to make the jump. Kayleigh McEnany held the job from April 2020 through the final day of the first term, joined Fox in 2021, and now co-hosts “Outnumbered” and “Saturday in America with Kayleigh McEnany.” Leavitt’s Nov. 1 start follows the same bridge from the West Wing to prime cable real estate.
Viewers who watched her spar in the briefing room will now hear that same unfiltered approach on Fox’s air. For a network that prizes firsthand knowledge over secondhand spin, the hire is straightforward: put the person who lived the story on camera.
In a media environment crowded with pundits who never took the questions, Leavitt arrives having already answered them, and that is the point.
