Georgia woman severely injured in unprovoked acid attack at local park

 December 13, 2025

In a chilling act of senseless violence, a Georgia woman was brutally attacked with a corrosive chemical while walking in a Savannah park, leaving her with horrific burns and a community on edge.

The New York Post reported that Ashley Wasielewski, 46, suffered severe injuries after a stranger doused her with a toxic substance in Forsyth Park on Wednesday night, prompting a manhunt for the attacker and heightened security across city parks.

Wasielewski, known among friends as a compassionate soul who often aided the homeless, had just left a Christmas program at a nearby church when the nightmare unfolded.

As she walked laps around the park, an unknown assailant crept up from behind and poured a caustic liquid over her head, with no apparent motive l,ike robbery or personal grudge.

The chemical was so potent it seared through her skin, dissolved her clothing, and even melted the key fob in her pocket, turning a peaceful evening into a scene of agony.

Emergency responders rushed her to Augusta Burn Center, where she’s battling second- and third-degree burns across half her body, including her face, scalp, hands, and legs.

Community Reels from Brutal, Motiveless Attack

Her son, Westley, was alerted by a good Samaritan who helped at the scene, hearing his mother’s cries of pain through the phone—a haunting reminder of the attack’s brutality.

“She doesn’t have any enemies. She is a friend to everyone,” Westley said, capturing the bewilderment of a family grappling with such a random act of malice.

Close friend Connor Milam recounted the horrifying moment, saying, “She was instantly like, ‘Why are you pouring water on me?’ And then her skin started to burn.”

Authorities have yet to make arrests, but Savannah police, alongside the FBI, are working tirelessly to identify both the chemical used and the perpetrator behind this heinous act.

Surveillance footage has pinpointed a person of interest wearing blue jeans and a dark hooded sweatshirt with a white cartoon rabbit, though details remain scarce as the search intensifies.

Extra patrols now guard city parks as a precaution, a move that, while necessary, underscores how public spaces—once symbols of community—can become arenas of fear in the blink of an eye.

Leadership Responds, But Questions Linger

Savannah Mayor Van Johnson has vowed swift action, stating, “Our Police Department is treating this case with the highest urgency,” though one wonders if reactive measures are enough in a society where such cruelty festers unchecked.

While officials insist there’s no sign of a broader threat, the incident raises hard questions about safety and the cultural decay that allows random violence to strike without warning—issues too often glossed over by progressive platitudes.

Wasielewski’s story is a tragic wake-up call; a giving woman, disfigured for no reason, deserves justice, and Savannah must reckon with how to protect its own before the next unthinkable act occurs.
