James Bailey, spouse of '2 Fast 2 Furious' star, arrested in hit-and-run case

 December 18, 2025

James Bailey, husband of Hollywood actress Devon Aoki from "2 Fast 2 Furious," has been nabbed by police in Coral Gables for allegedly mowing down a scooter rider with his SUV and speeding off without a backward glance.

The Daily Caller reported that this shocking incident unfolded on Monday evening at a busy crosswalk, leaving a man seriously injured and raising questions about accountability in our increasingly excuse-laden society.

According to the Coral Gables Police Department (CGPD), the collision happened just after 5:15 p.m. when Bailey, reportedly behind the wheel of an Audi SQ7 SUV, struck the victim at an intersection.

Disturbing Details of the Collision Emerge

The victim’s girlfriend, a witness to the chaos, described a harrowing scene where her partner’s left foot was trapped under the SUV’s tire.

She told police she was “frantically asking (Bailey) to move the vehicle back (to) release (his) foot from underneath the tire,” per the CGPD report. Let’s be real—if you’re in a position to help someone in agony, shouldn’t common decency kick in before the accelerator?

The girlfriend’s pleas apparently worked momentarily as Bailey reversed the vehicle, but then, according to police, he took off without offering aid or even reporting the crash, leaving the injured man with two fractured bones in his foot.

Police didn’t let this one slide, using law enforcement cameras and license plate readers to track down the SUV linked to Bailey.

Officers arrived at the upscale eight-bedroom mansion owned by Bailey and Aoki, only to be told by Aoki that she had no idea where the vehicle was.

As they were leaving, Bailey rolled up in the very SUV in question, but when a CGPD sergeant activated emergency lights and ordered him to stop, Bailey allegedly bolted into his home and locked the door.

Confrontation and Arrest at Mansion Gates

Police weren’t playing hide-and-seek; they reported that “after several minutes of observing (Bailey) walking inside his residence and looking at police officers through the windows,” he finally stepped out, invoked his right to remain silent, and was taken into custody, per CGPD statements.

Inspection of the SUV revealed minor damage consistent with hitting a pedestrian on a scooter, further tightening the case against him. If the evidence fits, it’s hard to spin a different narrative, no matter how progressive the excuse machine might try.

Charged with felony hit-and-run causing serious bodily injury and resisting without violence, Bailey faced Miami-Dade bond court Judge Mindy Glazer on Tuesday, who found probable cause for both charges and set bail at $7,500.

Bailey was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center late that day, and Local 10 News footage captured him seemingly grinning as he walked out, refusing to speak to the press.

That smirk, whether intentional or not, doesn’t sit right when a man is nursing serious injuries because someone allegedly couldn’t be bothered to stick around. In a culture quick to dodge responsibility, shouldn’t we demand better from those in the spotlight?
