Jasmine Crockett's misstep in accusing Lee Zeldin over Epstein mix-up

 November 19, 2025

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) just dropped a bombshell accusation that missed the mark by a country mile, according to Breitbart.

During a heated House debate over censuring Virgin Islands Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D), Crockett wrongly claimed EPA head Lee Zeldin pocketed campaign cash from the infamous Jeffrey Epstein, only to confuse him with a New York doctor of the same name, while newly released documents also exposed Plaskett’s unsettlingly cozy exchanges with the convicted billionaire.

Crockett, in a fiery moment on the House floor, pointed fingers at Zeldin, alleging he took donations from Jeffrey Epstein during a debate tied to Plaskett’s conduct.

Here’s the kicker: she got the wrong guy. FEC screenshots confirm the donor was Dr. Jeffrey Epstein, a physician from New York, not the notorious sex offender who’s been out of the picture for years.

Zeldin Fires Back with Wit

Zeldin didn’t let this slide, taking to X to set the record straight with a jab that stings with truth.

“Yes Crockett, a physician named Dr. Jeffrey Epstein (who is a totally different person than the other Jeffrey Epstein) donated to a prior campaign of mine,” Zeldin posted, adding, “NO FREAKIN RELATION, YOU GENIUS!”

Honestly, it’s hard not to chuckle at the sheer absurdity of the mix-up, but it also raises questions about doing homework before launching accusations in Congress.

Meanwhile, the real controversy brews around Delegate Stacey Plaskett, whose friendly texts with the actual Jeffrey Epstein—yes, the convicted one—came to light last Wednesday via thousands of pages of documents released by the House Oversight Committee.

These exchanges, as reported by Breitbart News, show Epstein complimenting Plaskett on her questioning of former Trump attorney Michael Cohen and even discussing hearing details in real time.

It’s the kind of cordial chat that makes you wonder why a sitting member of Congress would entertain such a connection with a man whose crimes appalled the nation.

Failed Censure Sparks Partisan Divide

On Tuesday, the House Freedom Caucus, led by Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC), pushed a resolution to censure Plaskett and boot her from key positions, including the House Democratic Caucus and the Intelligence Committee dealing with classified matters.

Norman didn’t mince words, stating, “Those documents show that Delegate Stacey Plaskett, a sitting member of Congress, coordinated her questioning during an official Oversight hearing, with a man who was a convicted sex offender, a man whose crimes against minors shocked this entire nation.”

Yet, the motion flopped with a tight 209-214 vote, as all Democrats, three Republicans, and three others present stood against it, revealing just how partisan lines can shield questionable behavior in Washington.
