A former Louisiana “New Teacher of the Year” faces two attempted-murder counts after a Tuesday shooting left two people injured.
Breitbart News reported that Kyle Delaney, 25, was arrested hours after the shooting on St. Vincent Street. He was placed in Ascension Parish Jail.
Delaney faces two counts of attempted second-degree murder. The two injured people went to a hospital in stable condition.
The arrest drew added attention because Gonzales Middle School named Delaney its 2024, 2025 “New Teacher of the Year.” Other serious cases have gained notice for the accused person’s past, including an Ohio murder trial involving a former television contestant.
WAFB placed the shooting at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The account did not provide the calendar date, but said authorities found and arrested Delaney hours later.

Breitbart News did not identify a motive, the arresting agency or any weapon recovered in connection with the Louisiana shooting. The names and specific injuries of the two wounded people also remained undisclosed.
The available account did not identify the court, case number or agency that filed the charges. It also included no statement from Delaney, his attorney or Gonzales Middle School.
