Trump announces nearly $100 checks for more than 20 million Medicare seniors

 October 3, 2026

President Trump announced nearly $100 checks for more than 20 million Medicare seniors to offset Part B premiums, drawing funds he said Democrats wasted on special interests.

President Donald Trump said Friday evening his administration would immediately begin sending the payments to help cover Medicare Part B costs for more than 20 million seniors.

Breitbart reported the move targets Part B enrollees and pulls the money from the Medicare Improvement Fund, with the total running roughly $2 billion by one estimate.

Trump framed the checks as direct relief after earlier premium reductions and tied them to a broader push to cut senior healthcare costs.

In a Truth Social post, he laid out the plan in plain terms.

"I am pleased to announce that my Administration will, immediately, begin sending ‘Checks’ of nearly $100 to over 20 MILLION wonderful Seniors to help pay for their Medicare Part B premiums, which we have already reduced by significant amounts,"

He said the cash comes from a fund he has long criticized.

"This money will come from the Medicare Improvement Fund, a pointless ‘Slush Fund’ that has only been used by Dumocrats in Congress to pay for the Waste, Fraud, and Abuse for their Special Interest friends, and drive up Healthcare costs."

Trump added that the same fund, paired with his Most Favored Nations deals, is now being used to lower costs for seniors.

Payments follow the Social Security channel seniors already use

A White House fact sheet, described in the reporting, says the money goes to more than 20 million Medicare Part B enrollees.

Recipients get it by direct deposit or paper check, matching how they already receive Social Security.

That keeps the delivery simple for people who already rely on those monthly deposits.

Trump also linked the announcement to his record on Medicare and Social Security.

"I pledged to protect and preserve Medicare and Social Security, which were on the verge of RUIN by Joe Biden, who foolishly and maliciously let tens of millions of Illegal Aliens into our Country, and we are doing just that for America’s Seniors."

He cast the checks as proof the pledge is being kept.

2026 Part B premiums still hit fixed incomes hard

The payments land against known 2026 premium figures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

CMS lists the standard Part B monthly premium at $202.90 for beneficiaries with modified adjusted gross income at or below $109,000.

The annual Part B deductible for all beneficiaries is $283.

Even a nearly $100 payment does not erase those bills. It does put cash back toward the premium line item many retirees watch every month.

Separate refunds already moving for other overcharges

Trump said the senior payments stand apart from another round of refunds.

He described “equally substantial” refund checks headed to one million Americans he said were overcharged on Affordable Care Act plans under Biden.

Fox Business reporting cited in the same account said the U.S. Treasury had already begun issuing $500 refund checks to more than 950,000 people across 30 states, each paired with a letter from Trump.

Those Treasury checks are a distinct track from the Medicare Improvement Fund payments to Part B enrollees.

Midterm dividend promise rides on Republican wins

Trump closed the announcement by pointing ahead to the midterms.

"Because I delivered on this very important issue for the American People, they can also rest assured the highly popular $5,000 Trump Dividend will be distributed to every U.S. Citizen if, and when, the Republicans win the Midterm Elections!"

He had previewed that $5,000 dividend at the GOP midterm convention earlier this summer.

The new Part B checks, by contrast, were described as starting right away.

Seniors living on fixed incomes measure help in dollars that actually arrive. Redirecting a fund once used for congressional priorities into premium relief is the kind of choice they notice.
