Trump excludes South Africa from 2026 G20 gathering in Florida

 November 27, 2025

President Donald Trump just dropped a diplomatic bombshell that’s got the global elite clutching their pearls.

Just The News reported that Trump has declared that South Africa won’t be getting an invite to the 2026 G20 summit set to be held at his Doral resort in Florida, a move that’s the latest chapter in a simmering feud over alleged discriminatory policies in the African nation.

Earlier in 2025, Trump welcomed a group of white South Africans into the United States as refugees, signaling his administration’s concern over what he calls the unfair treatment of the minority group in their home country.

He’s been vocal about his belief that South Africa’s leadership is pushing policies, like affirmative action, that unfairly target white citizens—a charge that’s ruffled plenty of feathers on the international stage.

Fast forward to this month, and the U.S. took a bold stand by boycotting an economic summit in Johannesburg, even skipping the ceremonial gavel handover, though a diplomat from the U.S. embassy in South Africa was sent as a placeholder.

Trump’s Hard Line on South Africa

Then came the big announcement on Nov. 26, 2025, when Trump made it crystal clear that South Africa is persona non grata for the 2026 G20 summit at his Florida property.

He didn’t stop there, either—the president also pulled the plug on all payments and subsidies to the country, effective immediately, as a direct jab at what he sees as their refusal to address human rights concerns.

Trump minced no words, stating, “South Africa has demonstrated to the World they are not a country worthy of Membership anywhere, and we are going to stop all payments and subsidies to them, effective immediately.”

Now, let’s give the other side their say—South African President Cyril Ramaphosa isn’t taking this lying down.

He pushed back hard against Trump’s accusations, telling the New York Times, “South Africa is a sovereign constitutional democratic country and does not appreciate insults from another country about its worth in participating in global platforms.”

In the same breath, he doubled down, adding, “South Africa will continue to participate as a full, active and constructive member of the G20.”

Analyzing the Fallout and Future

Well, isn’t that a bold claim for a nation just booted from the guest list? Ramaphosa’s defiance might play well at home, but it’s hard to see how South Africa will muscle into a summit they’ve been explicitly excluded from—talk about showing up to a party uninvited.

Meanwhile, Trump’s decision to host the 2026 G20 at his Doral resort, with National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett as the U.S. point person, shows he’s not just making a statement—he’s controlling the narrative on his own turf.

This isn’t just a petty spat; it’s a calculated move by an administration that’s fed up with what it sees as globalist double standards on human rights, even if it means ruffling diplomatic feathers.

While some might call this isolationist, others will see it as a refreshing stand against policies that appear to discriminate under the guise of equity. Let’s be honest—when has Trump ever shied away from shaking the table?
