Amy Schumer and chef Chris Fischer settle divorce nearly a year after split

 October 26, 2026

Amy Schumer and chef Chris Fischer have settled their divorce at New York Supreme Court, ending a seven-year marriage nearly a year after their public separation.

Page Six reports the couple’s case is now listed as disposed, though New York seals divorce files, so the exact finalization date remains unclear.

Schumer, 45, and Fischer, 46, also filed support orders for their 7-year-old son, Gene. The comedian filed for divorce in January, about a month after she told followers the marriage was over.

Seven years, one son, and a sealed New York case

The pair married in secret in 2018 and welcomed Gene in 2019. By last fall, the union was publicly finished.

In a December 2025 Instagram post, Schumer spelled out the split in plain terms and asked for space.

"Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time."

A follow-up post framed the breakup as mutual and rejected gossip about her weight or his fame in the kitchen.

"Blah blah blah not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag a basket and not because he’s a hot Janlmes beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever."

Earlier that month she had already swatted away other online theories.

"Whatever ends up happening with me and Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism."

Court papers moved faster than the rumor mill

On Sept. 25, Page Six first reported the couple was near the finish line after submitting a proposed divorce judgment and the child-support orders. The disposed listing now closes that chapter on paper.

Settlement terms stay private under New York’s sealing rules. What is public is the sequence: social-media announcement, January filing, proposed judgment in September, and a case marked done.

Years earlier, Fischer had joked about walking out in edible form. For Schumer’s 40th birthday in 2021, he gave her a cake that read, “I’m leaving you. This was the only way I could think to do it.” At the time it played as comedy. The later filing gave the gag a longer shadow.

Career, motherhood, and an unnamed account of the strain

When the separation first became public, an unnamed source speaking to the Daily Mail cast the break as a long time coming and tied it to competing demands at home and at work.

That source said Schumer’s career goals and role as a mother left little focus for the marriage, and that she had “realized you can’t have everything and the thing that suffered most was her marriage.” The same account described her as “equal amounts happy and sad” about the end. Schumer’s own posts struck a different note, amicable, private, and centered on their son. Those claims sit side by side; neither side of that gap is resolved in the public record.

Schumer built her name in stand-up and in films including “Trainwreck” and “I Feel Pretty.” Fischer made his as a chef. Their court file now lists a disposed divorce and support arrangements for Gene. The rest of the deal stays behind New York’s seal.

Hollywood can sell the myth that you can run full speed at fame and still keep the home fire steady, until the filing date says otherwise.
