Trump brands Murkowski the party’s worst senator over Alaska ranked-choice fight

 October 25, 2026

President Trump labeled Sen. Lisa Murkowski the Republicans’ worst senator and pressed Alaska voters to kill ranked-choice voting he calls a Democrat scam aimed at a key Senate seat.

In Truth Social posts Saturday night, President Trump unloaded on Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, tying her record to ranked-choice voting and warning that Democrats are angling to flip an important Republican seat in the state.

Just the News reported the posts, in which Trump said Murkowski only held office because of that voting system and that she is upset he called it out in public.

Trump framed the fight as bigger than one feud. He said he has delivered for Alaska at a level no one has matched, and he demanded a fair Senate election in return.

Trump says ranked-choice voting propped Murkowski up

Trump’s first broadside named Murkowski in blunt terms and cast ranked-choice voting as a tool built to confuse voters.

He wrote:

"The Republicans’ Worst Senator, by far, Lisa Murkowski, of the Great State of Alaska (A State for which I produced, on a continuing basis, Billions and Billions of Dollars, and which Crooked Joe Biden and the Dumocrats had totally shut down, Then I came back, and delivered even more!), who only got elected because of Corrupt Ranked Choice Voting, is upset because I revealed what everyone knows, that the Ranked Choice Voting Ballot is a TOTAL DEMOCRAT SCAM meant to confuse the Voter,"

Ranked-choice voting lets voters list candidates in order of preference. If no one wins a majority on the first count, last-place candidates drop and lower choices get redistributed until someone clears the bar. Trump’s argument is that the system muddies a straight choice and has served Murkowski’s survival.

In a follow-up post, he went further on how he says she stayed in power.

Trump wrote:

"They’ve been trying to get rid of Lisa Murkowski forever in Alaska, then she came up with the Ranked Choice Voting SCAM, and pulled a nice hot iron out of the fire. Everyone thought she came in second or third, but then she 'won.' Miracles happen!"

No official election tallies, round-by-round results, or certified ballot language appear in the reporting beyond Trump’s own account. Murkowski issued no response in the available account of the posts.

Sullivan name clash sits at the center of the warning

Trump also turned to the Senate race around GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan. He argued Alaska’s voting setup could hurt the incumbent against a Democrat he identified as Daniel J. Sullivan, Jr., a man Trump said has never taken part in politics before.

Trump’s charge was direct. He said the Democrat is “only there because the Democrats want to steal the election, and Murkowski probably wants that to happen, which is why she is against the DOJ filing a lawsuit in order to stop this impending crime and tragedy.”

The reporting does not include a Justice Department case name, filing date, or docket. It also does not include state election filings confirming the Democratic candidate’s paperwork. What it does carry is Trump’s claim that shared surnames plus ranked-choice rules create an opening Democrats want to use.

Ballot Measure 2 is Trump’s line in the sand

Trump closed the appeal by tying Alaska’s future support to a clean contest and a vote on the voting system itself.

He wrote:

"I have delivered for Alaska at Historic Levels, nobody has ever seen anything like it, and all I’m asking for is a FAIR AND HONEST SENATORIAL ELECTION! Lisa Murkowski is a DISGRACE to Alaska and our Country. You just don’t get any worse! I hope the Great People of Alaska understand what is happening. The Democrats are trying to steal this important Republican Seat and, if that happens, everything we’ve done for Alaska will come to an immediate hault. VOTE 'YES' AGAINST RANKED CHOICE VOTING, on Ballot Measure 2. SAVE ALASKA!"

That is the practical ask. Trump wants a “YES” on Ballot Measure 2 against ranked-choice voting, presents Murkowski as standing in the way of accountability, and tells Alaska voters the Senate seat is the prize in a larger fight over election rules.

He cast his own record in the state as the contrast, billions delivered on a continuing basis, a recovery after what he called a Biden-era shutdown of Alaska’s prospects, and a demand that the political class stop playing games with the ballot.

When a president says a sitting Republican only survives on a confusing ballot design, and that Democrats are shopping a look-alike name to pry open a Senate seat, voters deserve a simple choice and an honest count, not another layer of process that buries who won on election night.
