A Pennsylvania mother charged in the stabbing deaths of her husband and toddler son never wanted to get pregnant and resented the boy for taking her husband's attention, a search warrant alleges.
Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, faces two counts of criminal homicide after police say she fatally stabbed her husband, Charles Harrison, and their 3-year-old son in the chest during a family stay at Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains, on Oct. 12, 2026.
Investigators later detailed a darker picture of home life. Family members told police she was controlling, resented the child, and said she never wanted to become a mother at all, claims now laid out in a search-warrant application.
Fox News reported that officers responded to room 2030 after Harrison called for help dying. Police found the victims with stab wounds. In the bathroom sat a large kitchen knife and a smaller knife with teal handles that did not belong to the lodge, along with scattered medication bottles. Harrison had cuts on her wrists and a puncture wound to her neck.
The New York Post reported that a search-warrant application obtained by WNEP captured what relatives told investigators about her attitude toward motherhood and her son.
Family members described Harrison as “dominant, controlling, and felt resentful towards the child, stating that she never wanted to get pregnant.”
"dominant, controlling, and felt resentful towards the child, stating that she never wanted to get pregnant,"
The same warrant application said she made statements about the boy taking away one-on-one time between her and Charles. Relatives also alleged she isolated her husband's family from him and from the child.
Those claims, if proven in court, point to a long-running grievance aimed at a toddler who had no power to leave and no voice in the marriage. The boy was three years old.
Cops reached the resort Monday afternoon. Harrison reportedly told them she was “suicidal, not stupid,” and would not say more. EMS treated her as she spoke about the life she said she had tried to build.
A police affidavit describes what she told emergency responders and what she repeated in the ambulance. She cast herself as someone who had poured everything into the roles of wife and mother even as investigators worked a double killing inside the hotel room.
"Every day I work so hard. To be the best person, the best mother, the best wife,"
She also told responders she had pictured a different ending for her household.
"It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I envisioned since I was a child,"
In the ambulance, according to the affidavit, she kept saying she was “not supposed to be here.” She also moaned about being the “best mother” while speaking with EMS.
The core timeline is tight. On Oct. 12, 2026, authorities say Harrison stabbed Charles and their son in the chest at the Great Wolf Lodge, then turned the violence on herself and called for help while dying. Knives and medication bottles were recovered from the bathroom. She was treated, photographed, and now faces homicide counts as the investigation continues.
Authorities have described the case as an isolated domestic tragedy. Formal charging language beyond the two criminal homicide counts, the full medical status of Harrison after treatment, and the complete warrant and affidavit text have not been laid out in full in the reporting cited here. Charles’s full identity beyond his first and last name, and the son’s name, also have not been detailed in those accounts.
What is on the record is hard enough. Relatives told police she never wanted the pregnancy. She allegedly complained that the child stole private time with her husband. She allegedly cut his family off from him and the boy. After the stabbings, she spoke to first responders about being the best mother and about the happy family she said she had wanted since childhood.
A 3-year-old cannot steal a marriage. He cannot consent to isolation from grandparents or aunts and uncles. He cannot answer a parent who decides his life is the obstacle. The warrant language puts that alleged resentment in black and white, beside a hotel room where police found two stabbing victims and a mother who had turned a blade on herself.
Prosecutors will have to prove the homicide case in court. The family’s account in the warrant application is one piece of that file, not a verdict. Still, the statements attributed to Harrison after the fact sit in sharp contrast with the picture relatives gave of a mother who said she never wanted the child in the first place.
When a little boy is accused of nothing except existing between his parents, the public is right to demand a full accounting, and to remember that the weakest person in the room paid the highest price.
